Towards the end of 2006, an intra-university team of 8 students and one project manager ('student consultants' from the JCNetwork of the Europe University Viadrina, Frankfurt/Oder, the Free University Berlin, Mainz University and Potsdam University, who were in the process of taking their degrees) developed a concept for fundraising campaigns for the "Verein der Freunde und Förderer der Staatsoper Unter den Linden e.V." (Association of Friends and Patrons of the State Opera Unter den Linden) in Berlin.
The project began with a kick-off workshop held at the Berlin office of A.T. Kearney attended by the students, the executive secretary and office manageress of the association, and two vice presidents of A.T. Kearney. At the joint final presentation of the concept phase, the student consultants presented a comprehensive, cogent and persuasive fundraising concept built on four pillars and won much praise and appreciation for their output and their pro bono input.
