"Create a Difference" is an initiative set up by the strategy consultancy A.T. Kearney, which supports and coaches student-run pro bono projects.

"Create a Difference" is aimed at students who are interested and would like to put creative ideas into practice and become socially engaged in a voluntary project in order to make their own personal contribution to society - pro bono publico, that is, for the public good.

Originally started in German speaking countries, "Create a Difference" is currently rolled out internationally and is open for student projects around the world.

While the team of students conducts the project - including project management and communication - on behalf of the "pro bono recipient", A.T. Kearney provides assistance in fine-tuning the idea behind the project, accompanies the team throughout the entire duration of the project, makes research, graphics and training capacities available to the team, and supports the team locally at important milestones such as kick-off, the half-way point of the project, and the final presentation.

A typical pro bono project is conducted, for example, for a public institution, a social welfare agency or a club, covers a period of roughly two to six months - taking lecture times and examinations into account- and is handled by a team of between two and around ten students being accompanied by at least two A.T. Kearney consultants.

"Create a Difference" has already been the decisive differentiating factor in a number of projects:
  • Fundraising concept for an internationally renowned opera house
  • Intercultural youth exchange program
  • New tourism concept for a region in eastern Germany
The project has Martin Sonnenschein as its patron.
